SUMMER ON EDGE

Jacket: Guess (old, but similar here: ASOS), Shorts: American Eagle (old, but love these from Urban Outfitters), Sneakers: Converse
Higher The Heel has risen from its slumber...in a leather jacket and denim of course! I've been MIA for a minute, finishing up with undergrad but coming back to you as a Duke alumna! Still processing that last bit but one of the first things on my big girl agenda is hanging out with you guys more: exciting!
Also, as in this post, I plan to spend the summer in short shorts - not giving a second glance to the pants in my closet. My most recent favorite is this gem from Urban- high-waisted with a cutoff hem- just how I like 'em. The fit is perfect, which is actually a rarity for me. Will have to get you guys a post in my new summer staple! If you're looking for a pair of denim shorts, also check Lulu's; they have great options for equally great prices!
Happy Summer!

WINTER WOES

Coat: Zara (old, but loving this one H&M), Turtleneck: Nasty Gal, Pants: Zara (sold out; similar here H&M) Heels:Nasty Gal (old, but love these too Nasty Gal), Bag: BCBG (old, but love this one from H&M).
Really wishing it was time to hang the coats back up and welcome the joys of spring. Waiting for the days I can wear lightweight jackets, slip-ons, and dresses without fear of freezing (aka anything below 60 degrees).
Every year, I get excited for winter fashion but then the cold hits me and I'm dreaming of Miami days: sunshine, palm trees, and sandals. But, alas, I'll be going home soon and maybe winter will leave with me ( a girl can wish). For now, I'll try not see it as the guest that has overstayed its welcome.
Here's to hoping we will all be shedding some clothing in the near future!

 WHITE FOR WINTER

Cardigan: Zara (old but similar here), Bodysuit: American Apparel, Skirt: Zara (old but similar here, Missguided), Heels: Revolve
Decided to ditch the outdated rule of 'no white during winter.' Why rule out such a timeless color for an entire season?! As long as you wear it right, there's no reason to forget about white after Labor Day. Mix shades (ecru, ivory, snow, etc.) and add accents like my grey cardigan, a denim jacket, or dark colored accessories to give your white more of a winter feel. Maybe next winter, the rebel in me will go full white monochromatic. Stay tuned!

MIAMI WINTER

Skirt: Zara, Crop top: Zara (old, but similar here Nasty Gal), Heels: Dolce Vita, Clutch: Koko Palenki
Happy New Year!!
Every once in a while, I indulge in a pop of color. But of course, I had to tone it down with neutrals (baby steps, baby steps). The outfit choice turned out to be perfect for my South Florida backdrop: colors on colors! And, I was super pumped to be wearing crop tops in winter. Both the top and the skirt are about a year old but the shoes are one of my newest acquisitions. They're sexy, chic, and versatile: couldn't leave 'em! I'm a big fan of Dolce Vita. Their shoes have the high-end look with friendlier prices.
Also, I got a fresh haircut! And the angled bob lives on.

DENIM ON DENIM

Shirt:Zara, Jeans: Zara , Cardigan: Tobi Watch: Michael Kors, Heels: Zara Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
Denim on denim has easily become one of my favorite looks. The look has been completely reworked (reference Britney and Justin. AMAs. 2001) and what a blessing that is. Now, the trick to pulling it off is to mix and match washes. And, of course, wearing your denim on denim with a hot pair of heels adds instant glam. Still trying to find that perfect denim jacket and high waisted denim skirt! Denim high? I think so.

BLACK ON BLACK

Shirt: Guess (old), Leather jacket: Guess (old) but love this one Topshop), Pants: Zara, Slip-Ons: Dolce Vita, Heels: Nasty Gal (old) but love these too Steve Madden at Nasty Gal
Hands down, black is definitely my fave color in clothes. I'm always trying to vary it up but with each shopping trip comes another article of black clothing. What other color can be elegant, chic, and edgy all at the same time? That's what I ask myself as I consider the pretty pink top or red cocktail dress in the store. Each time, black wins out! I think the next step is acceptance.
This is also my first post with flats! These slip-ons have quickly become one of my closet favorites. I throw them on all too often but I can't help it. They're incredibly comfy and go with almost anything (especially all the black pieces in my closet). Next up on the list, nude slip-ons!

SWEATER WEATHER

Heels: Zara, Sweater (worn as dress)Zara
It's no secret that I am a Zara fanatic. It's definitely my one-stop shop. They offer the best possible combination of affordable and chic. What more could a girl want? But as with all clothing, you have to make it work for you. Case and point, the dress I wore in this week's shoot. It's actually a sweater! But with my height, pants could afford to go. A sexy transformation for this lil number!
